Cosmetic Center

A blepharoplasty is a common procedure that removes excess skin from the eyelids. As we age, the skin around our eyes starts to sag, droop and become puffy in appearance. Eyelid skin stretches, muscles become weak, and the fat that protects our eyes becomes more prominent. These occurrences are worsened by UV ray exposure, and cigarette smoking. A blepharoplasty helps to alleviate these things.

A blepharoplasty can be performed on both the upper and lower eyelid. This procedure is often done for cosmetic reasons, but is also done for functional reasons. If excess eyelid skin is sagging into your visual field, it may be deemed medically necessary. Some health insurance plans will cover a medically necessary blepharoplasty.
